Hello Congress! I present you with our first piece of legislation for the New Year! In the next two weeks, I plan on laying down some foundation for the incoming administration, in the hopes of making our regional government more efficient. I encourage you to start drafting your own legislation as well to help me in this endeavor. Thank you, Long live the Union and Happy New Years!
The purpose of this act is to give the power of border policy to the President and the elected administration. This would allow the President and their administration to decide border policy of our region without the need of a regional poll. However, if the region were to disagree with on going policy, the region reserves the right to petition for change, which must be made.
The sections of this law are as follows:
I. Power of Border Control
i. This act grants the power of border control to the President, the Minister of Internal Affairs, and the Secretary of Defense
ii. Through a joint decision of the three, as well as an approval from the WA Delegate or the Founder, the administration may open or close the borders without the need for a regional vote
iii. If the region were to disagree with current policy, they maintain the right to call for a vote and petition for a change in policy. If the petition is successful, the change must be made
iv. The WA Delegate and the Founder may use executive authority to close the borders at any given time, if a credible threat is detected. All executive decisions, however, can be overturned by the court
The purpose of this act is to increase the effectiveness of regional government in protecting our region from threats, while also maintaining a system of checks and balances.
